Player Development Program (PDP) Team
Details Team Player (U09-U10 Only)
PDP Team play is open to the young soccer players
(U09-U10) that are looking for a longer season, better competition and looking to improve their soccer
skills playing at a more competitive level than the recreational program offers. PDP is a great opportunity for young soccer players to learn new skills and benefit from the
experience of a more competitive play. Coaches generally have more coaching and/or playing experience and are encouraged to obtain coaching licenses representative of the age group
they are coaching.
Philosophy: PDP
is a fall and spring commitment for younger players with the passion for soccer as a precursor to competitive soccer (beginning at U11). As a parent you can expect:
more time commitment (practices start in June and are typically 90 minutes), a longer season (tournaments during the summer and fall, then the spring season), more experienced
coaches which results in more development for the player in both the tactical and technical sides of soccer, and a club like atmosphere with a commitment to the community unique to
the PDP program.
Summer/Fall Season: Team registration will
include participation in one major local tournament in the summer (exact tournament TBD). Any additional tournaments will be the team's responsibility. The cost for Summer/Fall
(2013) is $295.00.
Games will be on Sundays at Cook Park in Tigard, starting in September and ending in October. PDP
games are structured as follows:
-
Games are 8 v 8
-
25 minute halves; 5 minute half time
Spring: Players that participated in the
Fall PDP season are encouraged to continue play in the spring season. The spring season is an additional cost and is TBD for 2014 but for 2013 it was roughly $65/player. Team
coaches will notify their players of practice time and locations. Practices start in early February. The games will be Sundays with a total of 7 games over 9 weeks, starting in
February 2014. For the spring 2013 season, FC Portland is the host club and games will be played at Liberty High School in Hillsboro.
