SYSC Spring Soccer 2024 (Indoor & Outdoor) Game Guidelines by Grade
Equipment: All players must wear soccer shoes or athletic shoes to play, as well as shinguards. Shinguards should be worn under the players’ socks. No jewelry may be worn by players.
KINDER/1ST GRADE SPECIFIC RULES
Team Size: 3v3 using Bazooka Goals.
Ball size: 3
No goalies - a “no goalie” zone will be painted to remind coaches and players not to stand in front of the goal.
5-10 minute warmup before game start – use this time to work on a skill based activity that is fun for the kids and gets them excited, engaged to play a game.
Two 18-minute halves – coaches keep track of the time.
Coaches referee the games – you’re just really keeping the game flowing.
All K/1 Games will be held outdoor at Ridges South.
2nd GRADE SPECIFIC RULES
Team Size: 4v4 using Alfa Goals
Ball size: 3
No goalies - a “no goalie” zone will be painted to remind coaches and players not to stand in front of the goal.
5-10 minute warmup before game start – use this time to work on a skill based activity that is fun for the kids and gets them excited, engaged to play a game.
Two 18-minute halves – coaches keep track of the time.
Coaches referee the games – you’re just really keeping the game flowing.
All 2nd Grade Games will be held outdoor at Ridges South.
3rd THRU 6th GRADE SPECIFIC RULES
Team Size: 7v7 (Goalie + 6 field players)
Ball size: 4
3-5 minute warmup before game start.
Approximately two 22-minute halves – referees run the game and keep track of game clock..
Players not on field sit in player’s boxes. Substitutions are “on the fly”.
All games will be held at Sherwood Fieldhouse.
7th/8th GRADE SPECIFIC RULES
Team Sizes: Due to team sizes the number on field slightly differs (see below)
__Girls = 6 v 6 (Goalie + 5 field players)
__Boys = 7 v 7 (Goalie + 6 field players)
Ball size: 5

Approximately two 22-minute halves – referees run the game and keep track of game clock..
Players not on field sit in player’s boxes. Substitutions are “on the fly”.
All games will be held at Sherwood Fieldhouse.
HS Co-Ed SPECIFIC RULES
Team Size: 6v6 (Goalie + 5 field players)
Ball size: 5
3-5 minute warmup before game start.
Due to the number of female players, HS Coed teams must have at least one female on the field at all times (the usual requirement is two)
Boys and Girls can take free kicks. All boys’ kicks will be indirect.
Approximately two 22-minute halves – referees run the game and keep track of game clock..
Players not on field sit in player’s boxes. Substitutions are “on the fly”.
