PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

The SYSC mission statement is to develop and nurture the love of soccer in the Sherwood community. Part
of our vision is to create a fun and positive environment for all soccer players to participate, enjoy and
achieve success. Parents and families play a critical role in helping us achieve our mission and vision. Our
club is asking parents to read and agree to the following pledges as we all work towards making this the
best experience possible for Sherwood kids.

1. I pledge to be punctual in dropping off and picking up for each game and practice, understanding that
it is important for my child to be on time and ready to participate.

2. I pledge to inform the coach of any absences, vacations or expected tardiness for practices and games.

3. I pledge to “Honor the Game”. I understand the importance of setting a good example for my child
and other children. No matter what others may do, I will show respect for all of those involved in the
game including coaches, players, officials and opposing families.

4. I pledge to support the coach at all times in a positive manner and refrain from negative comments
about the coach in front of my child. I understand that negative comments can adversely impact my
child’s attitude and morale and could therefore create a negative experience for their soccer
experience.

5. I pledge to refrain from coaching or yelling instructions out to my child or other players while on the
game field or at practices. I understand that games are chaotic times for children trying to deal with
fast paced action while also responding to coaches, officials and opponents. I will limit my comments
during games to encouraging my child and other players on the field.

6. I pledge to wait a minimum of 24 hours before discussing a game situation with the team coaching
staff. I will schedule a time to meet with the coach to discuss my concerns privately and will not air my
concerns in a public medium or in front of my child, other players or their families. I will not confront
the coaching staff on the field immediately after a game. I will contact the Director of Soccer Programs
if I cannot resolve my concerns with the coach.

7. I pledge to make every effort to create a positive soccer experience for my child.
